What it does
- Works out adjusted net income for you and your partner: salary, profits, rent, savings and dividends, with pension contributions and Gift Aid taken off (relief-at-source contributions grossed up for you).
- Shows who has to pay: the partner with the higher income, whoever receives the Child Benefit.
- Works out the charge: 1% of your Child Benefit for every £200 over £60,000, all of it at £80,000.
- Uses the right Child Benefit rates for each year (£26.05 / £17.25 in 2025/26, £27.05 / £17.90 in 2026/27), or the exact amount from your statement.
- Pension Saving tab: the contribution that would bring your income down to £60,000, and its real cost after tax relief and the charge saved.
Made for
UK parents with income between about £55,000 and £100,000, and couples working out who pays.
Not the right fit for
Anyone wanting regulated pension advice: this shows the numbers, not a recommendation.
Do I need Microsoft Excel?
No. It works in free Google Sheets too (File, Import, Upload).
Is it a subscription?
No. Pay once and the file is yours to keep.
Is this tax advice?
No. It is a planning and record-keeping tool. Rules were checked against GOV.UK on 25 October 2026, and HMRC's own calculation is the official figure.
